The Future of Global ECG Equipment Expected to Hit 6.3 Billion by 2022

Recent pushes for preventive health care along with escalating cardiovascular disorder diagnoses are creating a surge in electrocardiogram (ECG) equipment sales. Grand View Research, Inc., estimates ECG equipment sales will reach $6.3 billion by the year 2022. ReactDx, leaders in cardiac event recorders, are helping to shape that future with their state-of-the-art cardiovascular and coronary equipment and services.

Approximately 17.5 million patients died in 2012 due to cardiovascular disease, according to the World Health Organization. The majority of these fatalities were due to late diagnosis or lack of patient recordings of vital signs. These untimely deaths could have been prevented with portable ECG monitors, such as the Holter, TelePatch 3-in-1 Monitoring System, or Event monitor.

Awareness programs, such as the American Heart Association’s campaign concerning women and heart disease, prove a negative trend is increasing rapidly: while only 30% of deaths in 1997 were diagnosed as heart disease, a troubling 56% identified heart disease as a cause of death in 2012.

Data integration – with computers, smartphones, or tablets – has led to product innovation in preventive care, both for doctors and patients. Innovations in North America outstrip those in other world regions because several major health corporations are headquartered on our continent, giving our physicians an edge over other areas of the world.

Globally, it is anticipated that the diagnostic ECG market will reach $4.9 trillion by 2018. Most of the increase will be tied to an upsurge in the geriatric population, escalating lifestyle diseases, population growth in third-world countries, and advancements in diagnostic ECG technology.

Holter monitoring is anticipated to generate a sizeable market share since it identifies arrhythmias occurring during normal daily activities, such as exercise, sleep, stress, and eating. ECG stress testing systems will encompass a growing segment of cardiac monitoring because of the necessity of flexible stress systems and comprehensive data management.
